While other kids read comic books under the covers with a flashlight at bedtime, I wrote fan fiction and fantasy stories. I used my love of writing to pursue a career in journalism and was honored with multiple press awards.
I continued to follow my dream of writing a novel, a journey that was often "uphill, both ways." After 20 years, the self-described Unsuccessful Quitter(tm) that I am, I released my first epic fantasy novel in 2020, "Trine Rising, The Kinderra Saga: Book 1" under the pen name C.K. Donnelly. Two sequels soon followed with several other books in development. To date, my "Kinderra Saga" novels have won nearly 20 literary awards.
I had to learn everything about becoming an independent author and publisher. Having a well-written, well-edited manuscript is only the beginning. Independent authors must learn formatting, which platforms serve their publishing goals the best, create a brand, develop social media content to support that brand, and so much more. After learning the ropes of self-publishing, I made it my mission to help other authors with their development and manuscript needs. I'm here to help, so you, the author, don't have to learn from scratch.
Taking the next step in your career as an author can be daunting. It can be downright terrifying having a professional read the manuscript to which you've given weeks or months (or years?) of your life. I get it. I treat all my clients with respect, kindness, and compassion. Any advice I give is to make your manuscript the best it can be.
I live in Arizona with my oh-so-patient husband and my little black dog (who is equally patient). I no longer write under the covers by flashlight. Usually.
