While other kids read comic books under the covers with a flashlight at bedtime, I wrote fan fiction and fantasy stories. I used my love of writing to pursue a career in journalism, and was honored with multiple press awards.
I continued to follow my dreams of writing novel, a journey that was often "uphill, both ways." After 20 years, the self-described “Unsuccessful Quitter” that I am, released my first Epic Fantasy novel in 2020, "Trine Rising, The Kinderra Saga: Book 1" under the pen name C.K. Donnelly.
"Unsuccessful quitting" really means persevering, allowing yourself the chance to catch your breath, try a new direction, even fail epically, but ultimately trying again and moving forward. Passion, prayer, and perseverance almost always lead to achievement.
To date, my "Kinderra Saga" novels have won nearly a dozen literary awards.
I had to learn everything about becoming an independent author and publisher. Having a well-written, well-edited manuscript is only the beginning. Independent authors must learn formatting, which platforms serve their publishing goals the best, creating a brand, develop social media content to support that brand, and so much more. After learning the ropes of self-publishing, I made it my mission to help other authors with their development and manuscript needs. I'm here to help, so you, the author, don't have to learn from scratch.
I live in Arizona with my oh-so-patient husband and my little black dog (who is equally patient). I no longer write under the covers by flashlight. Usually.
